We are initiating a number of ways to continue to support each other and the wider community during the coronavirus pandemic; ways to stay together whilst apart.
- Joining together in Worship
We will be taking part in worship together but apart, by all watching Sunday Worship on BBC1 on a Sunday morning. The times change weekly so please keep an eye out!
Pastor Steve is producing online services available for everyone to take part in. Links for these are below.

April 2020 – This isn’t quite what we hoped Memory Worship would look like this month but we have tried to capture the service for you all to view at home. We hope you are able to view YouTube on your television/laptop or tablet. Afraid our usual cake doesn’t come with this service but hopefully we will get to meet again soon. Please do not hesitate to pass this service on to anyone else you think it might comfort and reassure in this difficult time of isolation for so many.

May 2020 – Sadly the current recommendation is that we are still not able to meet for our service in person. Please find our second Memory Worship to view on YouTube on your television/laptop or tablet now (link below). Please do not hesitate to pass the link on to anyone you think it might comfort and reassure in this difficult time of isolation for so many.

For Palm Sunday, Pastor Steve has created an online service – this will be available from 11am on Palm Sunday, 5th April on YouTube.
Palms in the Post – Palm Crosses have been sent out to everyone we have addresses for. If you have not received one and would like to be sent one, please just get in touch – drop us an email to email@example.com
Pastor Steve has also created a Good Friday meditation with hymns and a reflection – this will be available from 10.30am on Friday 10th April, also on YouTube.
Also for Holy Week, the Methodist Church has resources for children, young people and families, available here.
- Noah’s ark knitting
Enjoy knitting? Help us create a Noah’s ark display! We’ve nearly completed the ark and animals, and will soon be moving on to knit the rainbow out of coloured squares – these can then be made into blankets for Christian Hope International’s stitches of hope project. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for details! We’ll bring all the parts together once the church is able to reopen.
- Noah’s ark salt dough
Help us create Noah’s ark out of salt dough! Create a pair of animals and then we’ll bring them all together when the church is reopened. Fusion Youth & Kids and Fusion+ will be joining in this, but all are welcome to take part!
- Rainbow Pictures
Why not take part in the nationwide initiative to draw/paint a rainbow?! We will display them all together once the church is able to reopen, and already have some on our glass doors!
- Southend Foodbank
Before the Covid-19 pandemic, we had a Southend Foodbank collection basket at the church. As the church is closed, we are not able to collect and take donations of food, but still want to help the community in this important outreach work. Could you help us pass on this invitation to give? Monetary donations of any size would be very gratefully received. Bank details and the address to send cheques to can be found on the Southend Foodbank website.
Pastor Steve is sending letters to local supermarkets inviting their support.
Thank you so much for all you are able to give.
Check back here for more initiatives as they are added!
